Question:
How can I get my cat to stop peeing on our bath rug?

My cat is female. She was spayed and declawed a month or so ago. She has peed on the bathroom floor and bath rug. We through away one rug when we moved to our new apt and she was fine. I put down the new rug and before we could even get use of it, she peed on it. This is very frustrating and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

That is the wierdest thing! My female cat does the same exact thing sometimes and I have no idea why. She has 2 litter pans to choose from and seems to use them most of the time. But then she'll go through phases where she wants to pee on my bathroom rug. She'll even do it right in front of me sometimes. Wish I had an answer for you but at least now you know you're not the only one. Btw, my girl is spayed and front-declawed as well. I got her from a shelter when she was 1 and she was already spayed and declawed. So I have no idea what her behavior was like prior to the 2 surgeries.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Go to the vet and have them check a urine sample to see if she has a UTI. Urinary Tract Infections are very common in cats and often the only sign owners will notice is that their cat suddenly starts urinating in an inappropriate area (such as a pile of laundry, towels left on the floor, the bed, the couch, the bathroom rug). It is absolutely AMAZING how often a simple trip to the vet and treatment for a UTI will instantly eliminate inappropriate urination in most cases.

If your cat has a UTI then nothing you do will help until you treat the medical problem. If you think it's frustrating for you, imagine how your cat must feel if she has a UTI but she can't tell you and you mistake her only way of telling you that she has a problem as "bad behavior."

I definitely feel your frustration, my cat does this too.

4 years and still going he'll pee on clean rugs, new rugs, any rugs...but JUST rugs. He never pees on anything else.

I haven't tried it yet, but the vet recommended this spray called Fooey. It's odorless to humans but cat's do not like the smell so it deter him away.

Good luck!

Do you have a litter tray? or can she get out?

I wonder if you put the mat into the litter tray for a bit shy might realise she is to use the tray in time. My cat was peeing in the bath, but at least I could wash it down.

She is acting out... obviously she hates that her toes were removed...

so she is using what is easiest... to punish you!

REMOVE the rug.
