Although cats are associated with eating fish, that's completely deceptive. Cats only eat fish because humans feed it to them. If you look back to the origins of the domestic cat, you will find that fish is not a natural part of a cat's diet. Most came from the desert, where fishing isn't an option. Their main diet was small rodents.
I don't feed fish to my cats because fish, in all forms (raw, cooked, or canned) is not nutritionally balanced for cats, and if fed as a primary diet will cause nutritional deficiences which can result in serious health conditions, and is often a source of food allergies.

Actually, they don't!! Cats are obligate carnivores, but they do best on a diet of chicken, lamb, turkey, or duck. Feeding fish is a human things we put on cats, they would never eat a fish naturally in the wild. If you are planning on feeding a raw/cooked diet, then you will stay completely away from fish. Even some high quality foods put it in their mixes however, but that isn't always a bad thing. I personally stay away from it (I think it smells terrible) but your cats might prefer it... oh and NEVER feed tuna, its horrible for cats :) Best of luck!!

Cats, like many animals, will eat just about anything. My cat will eat fish (any meat really), birds, insects, dog food, cheetos, broccoli, sourdough bread, ramen noodles...and cat food. Who knows what else she gets into when I can't see her, but I can't leave food on the counter or on the stove after cooking because she will check it out.
