Me and my boyfriend are fighting about whether any animal got to heaven. he said that because they can't expect christ that they won't go to heaven. However, i say that they have personalities, feelings and soles. Babies can't expect christ and everyone knows they got to heaven whats the difference?

I believe animals go to heaven. The are several biblical references to support it. If you do a google search on animals heaven bible you will come up with several sites with the exact references in context. Here is a good site to get you started http://www.ourchurch.com/member/w/w_lasalle/

My husband and I argue about the same thing. I swear up and down that they do go to Heaven (because they do) and he says they don't because they don't have souls. Honestly, how can you look into an animal's eyes and say that they don't have a soul? Babies and toddlers don't go to hell because they can't be held responsible for their sins, because they are incapable of sinning. Pets are sorta the same. They can't sin, they do not have the capacity to, therefore, they wouldn't need to be redeemed from their sins. Sorry, didn't mean to get into religion there, but that makes sense. Also, I once heard the Reverend Billy Graham answer the question if he thought animals went to Heaven. He said that if animals made you happy while you were here on earth that God would more than likely allow them in Heaven for our own happiness. And one last thought. Just think about all the innocent animals that suffer each day from neglect or abuse or starvation. Do you really think that God would allow all that to happen to them while they were alive and then NOT allow them to enter Heaven? I don't think so.

Lots of religious people (and it seems, lots of men) are really into the "us" versus "them" thing about animals. I remember a really cute "Outer Limits" episode where a hillbilly and his bloodhound came home from fishing and no one could see them. The hillbilly realized, over the course of the show, that he and his dog had died - the boat overturned while he was sleeping and they both drowned. So, the guy decided to find Heaven. When he did, he met St. Peter, who said, "I'm sorry, we don't take dogs." So, the Hillbilly decided to stay outside of Heaven with his beloved dog.

If there is a Heaven, it'd be a sorry place without our companion animals, that's for sure.

As for "expecting Christ" - I have never heard that term before. Ask your boyfriend if he really thinks the Dalai Lama, Ghandi, or Anne Frank don't get to go there. If *they* can't go to heaven, I don't want to go, either.

Well thats pretty dumb to fight about this, because everything living goes to heaven, cats are God's creation and even if they dont really know about God, they never did anything to deserve NOT to go to heaven. I believe they do. All animals do.

Heaven for me would include my deceased pets.

When God had made the earth and sky,

The flowers and the trees.

He then made all the animals,

The fish, the birds and the bees.

And when at last He'd finished,

Not one was quite the same.

He said, "I'll walk this world of mine,

And give each one a name."

And so he traveled far and wide

And everywhere He went,

A little creature followed him

Until it's strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth

And in the sky and sea,

The little creature said, "Dear Lord,

There's not one left for me."

Kindly the Father said to him,

"I've left you to the end.

I've turned my own name back to front

And called you dog, my friend."

i'd agree with you i believe animals go to heaven. my husband does the same thing with me and you better believe he got so attached to a "cat" that once that day comes he will change his mind. animals are like furry people to me and sometimes better to be around then humans. they have feelings, they love, breathe, and i believe will also go to heaven. if heaven doesn't have any animals then i would be a sad place.

No. Animals do not have souls. God did not create them as He created man, nor has He ever had a relationship with an animal SINCE the BEGINNING of CREATION. It appears you know little about religion, and God.

Also baby's are human beings, completely different from animals. And NO ONE Knows for a fact that all babies, if they die, go to Heaven. You have no proof on that, no one does.

They don't need to go to heaven because they get reincarnated just like you do. Actually, I think this is a silly question. What determines whether or not animals (including humans) have a soul? The only real difference between animals and humans is that humans have slightly more developed upper brains. Animals like birds and mammals have thought capacity beyond survival mechanisms, so if thought equates a 'soul', then animals do have souls.

Cats are people too.

If God created this Earth and all the beasts upon it why would He exclude cats from going to heaven ?

Cats and dogs aren't really from this world... they're permanent residents of Heaven. They just come here to visit us for a while.

I believe they go to Heaven. They may not be able to accept Christ, but their souls are pure and they have no need to.

Are you honestly comparing babies to animals? Seriously? Yes animals have personalities and stuff, but NO they do not have SOULS. The soul is what makes people people and separates us from animals.

As for the question, do cats go to heaven? No, but all dogs do!

(honestly, how would I know? I leave the decisions on salvation to God. I have no idea what goes on in God's head. )

i don't think cats go to heaven. eventhough humans and animals have similarities like they breathe, eat, live etc, they still are different. when i first read your question, i think of it like 'what a stupid thought!'. did the Bible mention anything about that matter?

I beleive they do. I think of it this way; why would God let us get so attached to our pets and go through greiving for them if they weren't going to heaven?

Animals don't have souls, so they simply cease to exist when they die.
2008-04-16 17:15:35 UTC
yup i thinks so!!
