Using catnip for the first time.?

I started to use catnip on my cat for the first time today. I put some catnip on the rug where he likes to nap. At first he tried to eat the catnip, then he would roll around in it. This went on for about half an hour. If I made any sound the cat would come two feet off the ground. But would go right back rolling around in the stuff. Is my cat OK? Did I use much catnip in the first?

All cats act crazy around catnip. It'll wear off soon, but next time, wrap it in cloth in a little bundle so he won't eat it, just smell and roll around. But don't worry, catnip is totally harmless.

my oldest cat loves to eat it and my other cat dont mind it at all and we have cat nip growing outside and they roll around in it all the time but if you want him to eat it roll it around in your figures that intensifys the sent

no your cat will be fine it does not hurt them or mess with them at all. your cat can eat it and it will do nothing so don't worry
