well i've got two of them...
and one of them has really blue eyes...
and the other ones eyes are an aqua colour.

they're not kittens anymore so it doesnt have anything to do with they're age.

i was just wanting to know if that means they're not really a turkish van... or could there be something wrong with their eyesight. :/

Why would you be questioning their breed? Do you have papers for these cats showing they're registered Turkish Vans with TICA or the CFA? If not it's very unlikely they're really Turkish Vans. They're quite a rare breed and you don't just come across them unless you got them from a breeder.

Eye colour in Turkish Vans is Amber, Blue or one eye of each of these colours. I don't it's something wrong with the eyesight it's probably just that your cats aren't really Turkish Vans - they're domestic longhairs.

edit: I forwarded this to my friend the Van breeder. They do have the Van pattern markings but their faces don't look Turkish Van to me. Do you have papers for them and a picture of them with their eyes open?

edit2: from my friend the breeder "They are not Turks. It's not very common to find Turkish Vans in shelters and you will never find a Turkish Van mix because breeders don't let their Vans roam free to breed with neighbourhood cats. Having said that, Blue eyes or odd eyes is very common in all cats, regardless of breed, that are either high white (which these are), or total white."

As for someone's question as to whether there was a difference between blue and aqua eyes - yes - a big one. Aqua eyes can only occur if the cat carries the gene for "mink". I'm sure these cats eyes are green - not aqua.

LOL at the thumbs down. I love when people get pissed on here that you actually know what you're talking about.

Turkish Van cats have either two amber eyes, two blue eyes, or less frequently, odd eyes (one blue and one amber). Eye color doesn't correlate to blindness, but a large percentage of pure white cats with two blue eyes are deaf (think some Turkish Angoras).

My husband who is from turkey has informed me that they have blue or green eyes. He also said that they are from a kurdish city called van and that's how they got there name.
