our momma cat will have kittens, and the tomcat will come and attack or kill them. This one time he grabbed one by the neck and dropped it down the stairs. Or he'll put them in the toilet, He has done this before and the momma cat will only defend her kittens when she feels like getting up. Should I put my tomcat down? I don't know what to do....

Why aren't you keeping them separate? Just keep the mom and babies in a room away from the tom. You should also get your tomcat neutered. It may prevent this (it also may be that this behavior is already learned for him and he will keep doing it), also there really are too man cats already, in shelters and on the streets and controlling the population is better for all cats. It gives more of them a chance for homes.

The reason he is doing this is that he wants the kittens to be dead so the mother will go into heat again. You need to protect the kittens and either lock up the tom until the kittens are older or lock up mom and babies to protect them.

KEEP YOUR TOMCAT AWAY FROM THE KITTENS! You don't have to put him down. Either he is jelious of them or it's instinct. Alot of male animals kill the young. Once the kittens are older, the tomcat should not try to kill them anymore.

is the male cat the father of the kittens. Most male cats will kill offspring that isnt theirs, so its pretty much normal to have a tom killing babies that arnt his. Just dont let him around where the mom and babies are. Kick him outside if you have to, or get a big dog kennel and keep him in that.

If the mother cat will not defend the kittens, it's up to you... Keep him away from the kittens and get him neutered.

i might propose putting Mommy and toddlers in a seperate room with a closed door, ideally dark. You dont choose to take a danger with him hurting the kittens. it might desire to be he in simple terms had an activity and had to tutor you, yet their is often a danger he would desire to alter into agressive. the two circulate him or Mommy into distinctive rooms until the kittens are sufficiently previous to guard themselves or have a lesser danger. i might say around 4-5 weeks. in simple terms constantly shop a look ahead to agression. :-) reliable success with the kittens. digital mail me for any help.
