When I am at work my cat opens my dresser drawers and pulls all my clothes out onto the floor.?

Question

She's a 2 1/2 yr old SH Tabby. She started going through my dresser a year ago when I moved to the country into a small farm house. She opens the drawers and roots through everything so that my dresser contents are not all over the floor in front of the dresser. She does this when I am at work during the day. The first time she did this I thought it was b'cuz she and I were not spending enough time together, but even tho I spent more time w her, she still did this. Then I guessed she did it b'cuz of boredom; so I got another kitten a year ago to keep her company. The 2nd cat was a small female kitten and also a tabby; they get along great together; but Jazmin still goes through my dresser and removes all the contents. They have lots of cat toys that they play with, they're indoor cats, they also have numerous hiding spots throughout the house to be by themselves.

That is my Poohbear's favorite thing to do, they are playing. Perhaps you could tape the drawers shut so she can't get them open. It is fun for them, little buggers!! Or find something to keep them shut with so they can't get them open.

Your cat smells a sent of you in your drawer and on your clothing. Even though just washed and in your drawer? You still touched them and it has your sent on them. It's actually comforting to your cat. I bet your cat while your gone actually lays on your clothing for a point and time. Mine love to lay on any clothing on the floor before they makes it in to the hamper. It's a security thing is all. Try taking a old small blanket and touch it all over and just before you leave out the door to work? Toss that blanket in front of your dresser and see when you come home if your cat left your drawers shut. I would bet ten to one that's what is going on. Good luck! :o)

Stuff in your drawer smells like you. Maybe she is looking for you. I also have a cat who loves the feel of silky things. Things that are kept in the drawer. Get some child proof latches and put them on the drawers until she forgets about them.

that is one strong cat to open up dresser drawers. maybe put a chair or something infront of it, then she would have to move the chair to get to the drawers.

Best is close the bedroom door before you leave the house. Thats what i do. He can be free all other places except that particular room.... may be he has a smell he remembers it so he's always there... you are the smell when you're gone out?? he misses you! ha

Does she sit and sleep in it, or just removes the clothes and does something else. I would say if she slept on the clothes or in the drawer, then its just her favorite sleep spot. If not...then I have no idea.

get baby proofing supplies...locks for the drawers ect.

maybe leave one drawer unlocked with some old clothes in it so your cat can have at least one.
