The Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea (canned) is what I feed. I'm fairly happy with it and the girls love it! It's true that these ingredients are often touted as being suitable for cats with sensitive systems. It has not been recalled.

As for lamb and rice, Lick Your Chops makes one but I don't like their list of ingredients and wouldn't recommend it. Iams and Science Diet are crap - avoid like the plague.

The reason lamb is often recommended is because it's meat that cats wouldn't typically eat. It's not the lamb itself that's important.

If your cat does have what I would call a sensitive system, you can try other meats, such as the venison. If you go to a quality pet store, usually independently owned, they may have a wider selection of good quality foods that you can try.

It's sometimes not the meat but the other ingredients that disagree with cats. Items like soy, corn and wheat are common allergens.

If you buy a good quality food, they won't have those items.

I have a cat who had constant itches, and she actually has a mite allergy. She is on Revolution year round, and that takes care of the problem. Did the vet culture her ears? A cat can have a yeast infection in their ears, and it can produce those same symptoms. Most (not all, but most) food allergies are really due to the corn in the food, and Wellness does not have any. Royal Canin is high in corn, and Eukenuba is full of by-products, so surely you don't want to step down to them from Wellness. I'd rule out the mites and a yeast infection first, and then switch to something like Natural Balance Duck and Pea before I'd do the by-product laden foods. If you feed canned, EVO makes a venison one, and Natural Instincts has some rabbit and pheasant foods that are a good alternative protein source. I have a cat who's allergic to corn - so that eliminates all the vet recommended diets. Why they can't come out with a prescription diet that isn't all corn and by-products is something I do not understand.

For a limited ingredient food I would recommend a venison and green pea cat food. Those seem to be the one in all the Rx diets for allergies.

Natural Balance makes one you can get at Petco. But double check on their(Natural Balance) website to make sure it wasn't recalled. I think the dry version has, but the canned has not.

Sorry I don't know of any cat foods with lamb and rice. Unless Iams has one.

I used to work at Petsmart, and while there are a lot of brands they don't carry, I think Nutro probably has a product that would work for you. Nutro Natural Choice sounds up your alley, and since Petsmart and Nutro have a special partership I've been to countless employee seminars where we learned all about Nutro products - and, in fact, how they DON'T have all the hidden meat by-products and crappy stuff some of the other foods have. Might want to go back or call Petsmart and see if they carry Nutro Natural Choice for cat in a lamb & rice formula. Nutro might even make a special non-allergenic formula, I remember they always had tons of different choices. Good luck!

Try Wellness, or Innova Evo.

You won't find them at petsmart or petco. If your cat has allergies, buy her (him) the best food, not junkie food.

It costs a bit more, but it is worth it.

A specialty pet food store, or private pet food store will have it.

Stay Away from Iams!

I am a firm believer in Eukenuba. I have heard so many horror stories about Science Diet and how they pay off Vet's to promote their food even though it has fish oil and other bad ingredients in it. You should also try an organic pet store that sells all natural pet food products. We have one here in town and I get my dog treats there.

If you can't find it a those stores, it must not exist. I would try an organic approach. There has to be other cats with the same ailment. Good Luck

try Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. my kittens have been on that for about 5 mnths now. It's very hard to find so try calling pet shops that do boarding, grooming, etc that's your best bet at finding it, or try online
