do you give you cat tap water or filtered?

i alwayed give mine tap and use and the cats love it!

In "The Nature of Animal Healing" by Martin Goldstein, DVM he has a chapter on proper diet for pets. He does make the statement - if you do nothing else for your pet, make sure that it gets filtered water.



So I do use a Brita water filter for the water that goes into the food I make and the water in their bowls.

I don't think it matters. If the water from the faucet is bad probably filtered would be better. To the cat basically it probably would taste all the same. Nothing should happen or unless somehting is wrong with the tap water. Or you could try one day do tap the other day filtered and see what the cat drinks more of or doesn't drink from and then you'll know

I give my cat warm tap water. It gets changed 3 times a day. I've never had any problems. Filtered or distilled is like for hamsters or exotic birds who can't deal with chlorine.

There is nothing wrong with tap and it is actually better because you need some mineral deposits in your water! But filtered won't kill you and it can be just as good for cats!

Rule of thumb I alway use is: if I wont eat or drink it, then Im not giving it to my "babies" lol the tap water where I live is heavily chlorinated and I cant drink it myself so I have a filter pitcher and fliter a lot at once then put it in jugs in the fridge.

*I* don't even drink filtered water. You know those bottles that are getting "recycled"? Only about half that are sent for recycling ever make it. What a waste and a detriment to our landfills. Go with tap or get a filter to add onto your tap.
