There is a stray that I feed and a couple of times I have noticed that she has pink patches but then the next day they are gone. the last time it happened the day before it was quite warm even though it is winter here at the moment and she loves lying in the sun. Could this be it? Is ther any other problems which would produce pink patches?

White cats are prone to get sunburnt on their ears so they usually advise you to put sunscreen on their ears. Not sure about the patches though. Could she be scratching herself/have a rash?

They get sunburned for the same reason that we do. They are mammals too. Apply some sensitive skin sunscreen.

yes- as the previous said- they are prone to getting sun-burned on their ears and consequently they develop skin cancer from that.
