Hello.

This morning I rescued a feral kitten from the trunk of the car, and brought him immediately to the vet. He is around 4-6 weeks old. This morning he hated me, scratched me, bit me, everything.

Now, he has been chirping for hours non stop trying to get out of the cage. I've let him out and he walks around. I hand fed him wet food many times today, and he loves it. Also gave him plenty of water, but he is going wild chirping to get out of the cage. I also created a bed for him to use, but he is too busy chirping.

I have NO idea what to do..... and I'm not giving him to a shelter because I hear they immediately but feral kittens to sleep... Thanks for the help.

Hi,

The kitten is just scared. At this age you will domesticate this cat fine. Just give the kitten a few days to get used to the surroundings.

The kitten is trying to get out of the cage becaues you've let him out and he just doesn't want to be in there..lol.

No different then any other kitten.

Not only did you save the kitten ..you also brought it to the vet. What a wonderful person you are.

If you want your kitten to stop being feral, let him out of the cage and handle him a lot. Suffer through the bites and scratches, he has to be socialized right now if you want to make him into a pet. Use a small room like a bathroom. Let him out and play with him. Use food as a reward for him letting you touch him.

I think you are doing a great job!!!! One thing that I have found to help is to seperate the littermates. Right now they are scared and are clinging to each other for support...but in order for them to become good pets they need to bond with a human. So seperate them and designate at least 30 minutes of your time with each of them. Also it's important for them to meet at least 4 new people (the more the better) so they will be comfortable with strangers! Good luck! You are doing such a wonderful thing!
