I would like a cat balcony enclosure, for my tenth floor balcony. Any ideas?

I live on the tenth floor. My cat likes to go out on the balcony, but I have to watch him like a hawk.

Cats will not survive falls from eight stories and up.

I have done searches for cat balcony enclosures, but struck out. I found lots on cat enclosures, but little on balconys.

He loves to roll on the cement, I have no idea why! Then he gets curious about the outside of the balcony. I grab him and we go inside.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can make the balcony safe for my cat?

If you can try chicken wire. It's available at Menards or Home Depot or any place like that. Take the chicken wire and a few zip ties and line the balcony with the wire and then zip tie it to the bars of the railings. it's not remarkably strong but it will prevent your cat from sticking her head out the railings and risk falling. And its almost invisible from the street and your living room.

There really isnt much out there. I have the same problem with mine, I"m always terrifed she takes a flying jump off the balcony when she's doing her favorite pastime of chasing every flying thing she sees.

The only solution I've come across is a play pen at Petsmart called the Kennel-AireĀ® Playpen for Cats and Small Animals

This playpen gives kittens, cats and small animals a roomy and safe place to play, sleep and rest. Great for cats to safely spend time outdoors to enjoy the fresh air.

Playpen measures 24"D x 48.5"H x 36"W.

Two doors allow for easy access to the cat and litter pan.

All wire components are finished in black electro-coat for corrosion resistance and long lasting good looks.

Durable, 24" plastic benches are adjustable for kitty comfort.

Entire unit rolls on a 1 1/2" swivel casters.

Has easy to clean plastic base.

Completely collapsible for travel and storage.

thats the specs on it. its pretty good. not sure where you live but check around i'm sure u'll be able to find something similar or order it online.

I'm not sure if you've tried either of these websites but they both seemed to have a lot of good ideas and maybe something could be tailored to your balcony. Best to you and your cat.

Maybe if you put him in a little harness (like for ferrets) and just keep him on a long leash, that might do for a quick solution. My cat doesn't like the harness, btw. She tries to rub it off on all sorts of things! But at least she's safeR. I hope you can find a better solution! =^.^=
