If you have a Maine Coon then you would have registration papers stating so. It would have come from a registered cattery and breeder. It siblings would have the same type of coat the one does. So I guess the answer is no you do not have a Maine Coon you have a domestic long/short hair cat/kitten.

No, the only way you have a Maine Coon is if both parents are Maine Coons (with papers to prove it). You don't get one Maine Coon in a litter with short haired cats - you have a domestic long hair, and the siblings are domestic short hair.
The "M" on the forehead has absolutely nothing to do with being a Maine Coon. It's part of the tabby pattern and happens on all tabby cats. Even lynx point Siamese have the "M" on their foreheads. Maine Coons that are NOT tabbies do not have an "M" - they also come in other colors and even solids. Animal Planet really did a disservice to both Maine Coons and tabbies by stating this "fact" that is simply not true.

You may have a long haired kitten, but unless you actually have papers, just give it love and realize that in a mixed litter of kittens, none of them are going to be able to be termed a specific breed of cat.
So if you have a long haired kitten, it will be a DLH (domestic long haired) and most likely a tabby. Especially if it has a "M" fur pattern on its forehead.
(I get an error message from the picture link.)

My cat is a maine coon. Huge feet? Big in size and weight? Long hair? Mine is gray, white, tan. Traditional coloring. Long hairs that curl over his ears? Likes to wander, explore, hunt, outdors?
Very Whiskery? lot of thick fur but not fluffy? Big eyes and nose, strong features? Striped tail similar to a racoon?

From what I understand, the M on the forehead means that it is, at least partly, a Maine Coon. I have a Maine Coon mixed cat. She also has the M on the forehead, but she is smaller than a pure-bred Coon. But according to everything I have read and been told by our vet, the M does signify a Maine Coon.
