I actually do have a testimonial on their website written several years ago about how it had helped my diabetic cat. But it was not that specific kind of Innova EVO. It was the original Evo. I think if was turkey & chicken. I started out feeding the dry and transitioned to the wet because I was also thinking about kidney & urinary tract issues, and the canned was lower carb.
A few months later, I noticed the high phosphorus level in EVO and got a bit concerned since that is hard on kidneys, so I stopped feeding it on a daily basis. and started alternating with a variety of other low carb canned foods - Merrick, Merrick Before Grain, Wellness, Natures Variety Instinct, etc.
Then when Proctor & Gamble bought Natura (which included Innova Evo), I bought up several cases of the old Evo but have not bought it on a regular basis since then. After the way they have changed for the worse other brands of pet food they bought out, I did not really trust them.
The last time I looked at it, it seemed like they had not radically changed the ingredients. But there is actually quite a bit they could do get lower quality cheaper ingredients from somewhere like China and not have to change anything on the label. Anyway the local independent pet supply store where I shop stopped carrying it.
What I would say about your choice: That is a lot of fish. not the best idea to feed a fish based food every day. and EVO products in general even the non fish are usually very high in phosphorus. The combination of those 2 things AND a dry diet all adds up to not being so good for your cat's kidneys & urinary tract. not that the cat would get kidney failure right away. . But on a long term basis it just doesn't seem like the best choice for the sole diet.
Of course I personally just would not feed an all dry diet at all to a species known to have a low thirst drive. There have been studies that showed cats on a dry diet get only half as much water as cats on wet food - including the water in the food and the water they drank
But if I were going to feed some dry I would consider one of the other grain free dry foods. Maybe Wellness Core? I actually do have a small bag of that and give my young kitties snacks of it. though they mostly eat raw and canned.
I wish you'd take a look at Dr Pierson's main article on her site if you haven't read that http://catinfo.org
