Im 14 and go to school only part time (3 classes). Im planning on getting a either one or two male kittens. I want the kitten to have a friend if im not there but i dont want the kittens to bond with each other and not with me. It woulnt be such a problem because im only gone 3 hours or less of the day, but i might be switching schools and going full time and i woulnt want him to be lonely. So i guess my question is :If i get two will they still bond with me and cuddle on my lap and love me? Also do you have any other advice about getting two kittens?

Well... I got two when they were still very little, I trained, bathed, fed, litter trained and even slept with them for the first few month... So long as you're there for them and you're nurturing to them, they will bond with you and their pal.

I raised my kittens, and it was definitely better getting two. That way when I'm not here, they have each other to cuddle with.

But I'd say to get them as young as possible, that way they look up to you as a parent figure.

Yes its true two is easier than one as they play together so tire each other out! they will play fight but its just play not a real fight even if they growl but this is important for them so they can learn, and if they don't have company they will end up climbing up your leg to fight that instead! and of course get up to mischief through boredom climbing up curtains ect,but kittens are boisterous anyway so even a pair will get into scrapes as its fun! but two are more likely to play together and as they grow up together will be nice company for each other, and if your planning on two its best to get them at the same time as if you wait until one is older then bring in a second you will have problems with dominance and cause upsets to the first cat, so i say go for two its easier all around, and enjoy the love and fun they will bring in to your life!

You can get one kitten, and it won't bond with you. You can get two kittens, and both will bond with you, or one will and one won't. And you can get two kittens, and neither will bond with you.

So really, it has a lot to do with the socialization they got after they were born and with their mother as to how affectionate they become.

Two kittens are really nice, as they play together, and take out their extensive energies out on each other, rather then on the objects in your room.

Of my cats, one is very affectionate, and wants to be near me, but won't allow herself to be on my lap. My other cats will cuddle on my lap. So there really is no sure way of predicting lap ability.

yes, they're still cuddle with you. My one friend has 5 kittens and they all bond with her. Another has almost ten and they all bond.

The only thing is to make sure you have enough money to provide for both of them for food, litter box materials, toys, etc. Kittens tend to like to have someone to cuddle up with and snuggle against, as long as the kitten is still young it will bond with you. (My grandma had a kitten that bonded with her and not the rest of us because we weren't around it when it was younger)

If the kittens are under 6 months old, its best to adopt 2. I would suggest you adopt from a shelter (litter mates) as they will have the kittens given all shots, worming and neuter before you take them - otherwise you are looking at more money to do all these things. Does your parents agree to adopting kittens and taking them to the vet for anything they need?

Definitely two! A book I read put it this way "Imagine you are the pet of an elephant. The elephant loves you and takes care of you but there are no other people around. Wouldn't you miss having a person friend?" I've always had two and they do keep each other company.

Cats are very social critters and really enjoy each others company. Half the fun of having cats is watching them play together. And don't worry they will not leave you out of the love fest. Good luck with your new babies.

if you're going to get a kitten, get two, because its twice as much fun and no more work.

and yes, they will keep each other company when your gone but still be glad to see YOU when you get home.
