Hi. i took my kitten to get his first vaccination yesterday, the vet said that he would not be himself after, but he was fine yesterday, today however he is not his usual self, he just wants to hide and sleep. He feels a bit warm and cry's if he gets picked up, he doesn't like to be touched where he had his vaccination. my other cat keeps coming and checking on him like he is worried.
My kitten is still eating and drinking normally but i was wondering whether this is something that i need to contact the vet about? or just keep an eye on him?

Thank you.

Dear Bay,

Contact your vet, it doesn't hurt to ask and get reassured and if there is a problem then you have been alerted. Vets don't mind answering we worried humans when their cats don't seem to be acting right. I hope this is of some help to you because some cats can be sensitive to the vaccinations.

It can be common. My cat reacted badly to her first injections and slept for a day before going back to normal. If you wanted to, you could ring up your vet and tell him what is happening just to ease your worries. I just kept an eye on mine and she felt better the next day, but had the symptoms gone on for longer, I would have contacted the vet. Luckily after 4 years, she has little or no reaction at all, but the first year, it was like someone had removed all of her bones and looked as if she had a massive hangover.

I have been studying some stuff about animals. and you just need to keep an eye on him..if he stops eating or drinking then take him to the vet. as long as hes eating and drinking you just have to keep an eye on him. some times vaccinations doesn't really bother them until the day after. They don't really feel it till at least a couple hours later.

Your cat is probably just a little shaky after his first vaccination. Give him some time. H.I.H:)
