My cat isn't happy anymore?

We adopted a new cat three months ago, and slowly introduced them over the course of three weeks. They play fight a lot, bite each other, scream, yowl, and chase- then calm down and lay around, and follow each other. However, my resident cat (2 years old) no longer plays with us. He used to play fetch, now he just watches it roll until the new cat (1 year old) grabs it. He hardly shows interest in playing with his old toys, and when he does the new cat distracts him and he gives up. The only thing he still enjoys is catnip. Also, he had never been a hisser, and just today I couldn't tell if he was hissing at me, the cat, or the carpet sprinkle I was putting down. He has become more aloof and I miss him. Please help me get my baby back!

Same thing happened when our new kitten took over all the older cat's toys.

Give the older one more petting and calm talking. A lot of cats respond really well to whispers, knowing that you're ONLY talking to them, not the other cats. He needs to have a little more 'connect' time with you.

maybe it's sad cus you don't spend enough time with it as much as it used to. and then it got tired of trying to get your attention and now it just lays around bored. i know it's not your fault and you're just trying to play with the other cat to show it that you welcome it. (: well, good luck in getting your old cat back.
