Sometimes they will swat at the wires, but rarely will chew on them. But some cats cannot resist chewing. So if that is the case, look for a product called Bitter Apple that you can apply to the wires. That will stop any chewing.

I probably have as many cables as you, but none of mine have ever bothered to chew on the cables. Of course, they delight in plopping their toys into the center of the wires, and then fishing the toy out.

Goodness, this is quite serious. There's a long technical explanation for what's happening here, but the gist of it is this: your cat hates PCs.

It's that simple.

What can you do? Buy a Mac. Cats respect Macs. They won't chew on any cables that are in the same room as a Mac. It sounds strange, but cat's see the Mac logo and somehow identify with it--maybe 'cause it's kind of an organic thing ...

You can go buy a simple spray at wal-mart or any pet store that would make things taste bitter. That should keep the cat from chewing on the cords. Make sure to apply daily until you think the cat has given up. If that does not stop the chewing you may want to put your computer in a room that can be shut off to your cat.

Wish you the Best!

Citrus sprays are an option but aren't always affective. Its probably best that you hide or disguise the wires whether it involves running them through pipes, or under carpet or taping them completely down. The best affective way to prevent kitty from getting to them is making sure kitty doesn't notice them in the first place. Provide enticing alternatives as well, toys, cat trees, scratching posts. Things that will re route his attention away from the area with cables.

look in the food market in the cleansing section and seek for a product that's produced from orange oil. Cats do unlike oranges and in case you spray the cords with it, it is going to offer up her. the only different difficulty i comprehend of that cats hate is acetone nail polish remover. They hate the scent of that, yet that should wreck your cords or your carpet. Has something replaced on your enjoyed ones that would have disillusioned her and made her start up back? Does she have toys she will play with and chunk on? I truthfully have a former cord-chewer and amazingly, she by no skill chewed on cords that have been plugged in. She additionally chewed shoe strings. i'm undecided why she stopped, yet I beneficial wish she would not start up back. good success. i'm hoping you get her stopped before she gets harm.

Spray this special spray found at pet stores on the wires. It doesnt hurt the wires and it keeps the cats away from them. It sends out this smell that cats hate and wouldnt think twice about touching. Just to let you know, cats chew on wires when they are little. If you are getting a cat, im sure it wont be a problem, Kittens chew on wires when they are teething, my kitty grew out of it. Good luck!

If you catch them in the act, a spray bottle full of water is a good deterant with my cats. I like the PVC idea, but it would have to be rather thick to accomodate all those wires. Best thing would be to not allow your cat access to that room, but I understand that's not always possible. The problem with the repellent sprays is that you have to respray them all the time, and who wants repellant all over their electronics anyway?

Some people will shake a can filled with rocks when a cat does stuff they don't want it to do (like go on the table or chew stuff). Some people will use a spray bottle and spritz the cat when it does unwanted behaviour. Hope it helps.
