roach question?? 10 pts!?

Question

what type of bugs are these? err.. type of roach? they're scary. i live near nv if that helps.
1. they are HUGE. almost as big as my whole hand in length minus a centimeter or 2.
2. they have brown-black wings and fly. alot.
3. were chill'n on the ceiling. scaled my walls. they didnt like the light
4. they were violent and aggressive. most roaches run from cats, these flew AT my cats til i killed the stupid bugs.
obviously these things arent normal house pests, but is it unsafe to keep the cats here til i can get an exterminator??

If you live in the US, especially the Southern states, I would say that you have Palmetto bugs or water bugs.

I lived in the South for many years, and these bugs are very common.

They are called Palmetto bugs in South Carolina, and water bugs or something else in other states....Most people I know just call them HUGE ROACHES!! LOL

I live in Louisiana and we have those here. Yes, they are roaches. They scare the hell out of me, too. They are huge and disgusting, you should definately get an exterminator because roaches are known to carry around 30 diseases. And we`re talking about a bug that crawls on your kitchen counters at night...



I think its ok to stay in the house. You might want to get some store bought roach spray and just spray around the baseboards and under the sinks and inside closets, to keep the roaches away from your house until the exterminator comes with the good stuff.

I looked some of it up and i came up with these sites. You can read about the different kinds and figure which one best fits your description. I found that the biggest most aggressive roach is called the madagascar hissing roach. Hope it helps!

I have no idea, but if this helps , get a roach bomb it works with all sort of roaches, big/small etc!
