Dogs are easier to understand, they're almost human. But my cat is stoic, sleeps most of the time, demands food when hungry, goes out to do his thing, but never wants to play. All he wants to do is sleep beside me, on my lap, or on my back. Very sweet and all but he's so stoic I'm beginning to wonder if he's really happy. How do I know?

You have to remember that cats like humans have their own individual personality.

Mine talks to me, he purrs when happy, twitches his tail when aggrevated, he also sleeps a good bit (is a bit older now) and when he wants to be held, he jumps up in my lap - no matter what I'm doing. Most of the time he will come if I call him but on the other hand, if he wants to be left alone, he is no where to be found.

It is true to a large degree that cats think humans were put here to submit to them. It's just a cat thing but I love mine anyway

If your cat shows signs of wanting to be close to you, trust me he's happy.

Very lots so. i don't comprehend what my cats might in all probability say besides the shown fact that I comprehend what they desire by the style they meow and do little antics. My Chausie male will head for the kitchen with a very loud mrow sound and then rub in the direction of the cabinet door that has his treats in it collectively as he desires one. That equivalent cat knows of twenty-two training completely. you may practice a cat tactics and coaching greater than a puppy. human beings only do not comprehend that so as that they don't complication.

Cats all have their own ways of showing their emotions and affections.

My cat licks my eye. Weird, but it's one of her shows of affection. She also is in a constant state of purring.

I'd say as long as your cat comes home, rubs his body against you, sleeps with you and all that, you're fine and he's happy.

If a cat is not happy, you very rarely see him. If he's not running away, growling, scratching, or just plain hiding, you have a happy cat.

Evidently he keeps coming back home after "doing his thing".

He is happy or he wouldn't come back.

Remember a cat believes that you are in this world to do what he/she wants not vice versa.
