Question:
I'd really like to help out this cat, but I don't know how?

Alright, my mom is sort of interested in getting a cat right now, but she isn't exactly fond of cats themselves. I know, bad idea to get one, but she is the most loving person ever.

I showed her the cats at the local shelter(using my laptop) and she was interested, but not interested enough, which is fine.

There is one cat there right now who has a seizure problem. Our dog has the same problem, so it's not like we can't deal with it. This poor kitty has been there for quite a while now, and no one wants it because of it's problem.

I'd really like to look into adopting it, but I dont know how to fully convince my mother?
(I'll feed/train/clean up after her, and enough attention and love is not a problem. :] ) Also, the cat is friendly with dogs, and my dog won't bother her.

How do I talk her into it?

If you will feed her, great.

Train her awesome.

Clean up after her perfect.

You mom doesn't have to do this, and gets to pet her the best thing yet.

Tell her you will do all this in the quoted spot. The only reason she would say no is because she would have to pay for its food, or bowls or whatever.

There should be ABSOLUTELY no problem with this cat, as you will clean it, feed it, love it, and take care of it. Tell her to read this below:

The cat should be no problem, you know that your daughter/son, will easily take care of this cat and provide a lot of attention for it. There should be no problems at all. So why not?

Go for it, good luck. :]

Well maybe you could point out that it might be nice for the dog to have a friend, and especially if the dog and cat have the same problem they'd be a perfect pair. Hope you find the answer and can help the poor kittie good luck. Cat's really are good pets and simple and somewhat easier to care for than dogs, no walking, and no bathing for sure (cats take care of the bathing themselves and litterboxes aren't much of a hastle). Maybe you could mention that next time you try to talk your mom into it.

God bless you for wanted to take in a cat with issues. Most people would not want to bother with a cat like that. Taking in a cat that has medical problems or has been through abuse or neglect has it's ups and down, but has the potential to be very rewarding in the long run. Tell your mother that there is a special place in heaven for anyone that is willing to take in an animal that has had a rough life. All 5 of the cats that my family has adopted have been "rescued" cats and they show their gratitude towards us everyday.

Probably the most likely way for her to be won over is if she actually sees the cat in person and it melts her heart. (possible that it will, possible that it won't).

But as much as you really want this cat, taking on a cat with a chronic health problem is a very big responsibility (especially financially). Since your mom will ultimately be responsible for it (even with your help), you should accept and respect her final say in this. (even if the answer is not what you want to hear)

Good luck and bless you for wanting to give this cat a home!!

Perhaps tell her what you told us. My family adopted two siamese cats who came from an abused background and it has been such a rewarding experience watching them become more comfortable with us. When we first got them, we could touch them, now they roll over asking for tummy rubs. :)

You seem to have the feeding/cleaning/attention/love part down... What about financially? Cat food? Cat litter? Are you willing to pay for those? It has a seizure problem. Are you going to be paying for the vet bills? I don't know your mother, but think what can you tell her to convince her if she is going to be paying. (Her lap will always be warm. lol.)

Best of luck to you. I wish more people adopted animals.
